Migrating Ducks

POST BY JIMMY MARZ, ERIE

If you’re like me, you are getting a little bored with the winter weather!

However, If you are in or near Erie, you have a great chance to see some interesting visitors to our area!  From either the North Pier or South Pier of the Erie Harbor Entrance Channel going into Lake Erie, many kinds of migrating ducks are visible by eye, but I caution you to dress for the weather that is there, not what you are experiencing at your area. The wind coming off of the lake is super cold, and with these lower temperatures we are having, warm clothing is a must.

Access is available from the Presque Isle North Pier or the South Pier off the Bay Front Highway. Take the Captain John E. Lampe Marina Access. This is the only open water so you will find hundreds of ducks visiting in the next few weeks.

I have posted a few pictures of the ducks on this site.   A pair of Binoculars will help in finding the rare ones!  http://www.500pxart.com/joeroot/store
